John Kasich on Fox Business: “I Did Not Get Elected to Get Reelected.”

John Kasich recently joined David Asman on “Scoreboard.” John had the opportunity to talk about fixing Ohio by bringing Ohioans together by building a team. He also talked about keeping his promises. Please let us know your thoughts.

Comments

  1. Kasich is a no nonsense guy who will be great for the State of Ohio. If only we had more people in D.C. like him.

  2. Governor, So far so good and I really like what I am hearing from you.
    But
We are watching, no longer will people in office be allowed to talk the talk without walking the walk, but I think you will do the right thing, but remember, we are indeed watching.

  3. Governor -elect Kasich is well spoken on fixings required in Ohio bugetary matters.

The next quadrenium is akin to a gymnastic balance beam. The Governor will be watching some clever people try to balance themselves while he hands out towels.

Some people made the problem he will coach.

  4. John, you’re really starting to fire me up! I’m on the bus!

  5. Bill Miller says:

Hard to believe there are no comments yet. At 71 years old I could use a good bus ride

  6. Norman Kennedy says:

Having been in public office for 27 years, as well as a CPA, I have a number of comments to submit with respect to operation of State government. I would like to know where to send them so they will be looked at and followed up on.

Example: We have submitted our State & School employee withholding taxes electronically via the Ohio Business Gateway for the past two – four years. I just received a bulky envelope from the Department of Taxation containing 12 coupon remittance forms and 12 return envelopes. I threw them away. Wasted printing and postage costs. We also submit our J&FS quarterly reports via the OBG. Yet we continue to get a multi-page carbonless carbon paper form each quarter which we throw away. I’m not picking on these two agencies, but this is an example of State agencies not thinking about how they actually do business and merely continuing costly same old same old procedures.

I would like to be able to periodically submit what I believe to be examples of procedures which should be reviewed for possible savings.

    Thank you.

  7. Wow… very refreshing to see bold leadership and someone stick up for Ohio. Great job handling the questions, which I thought were a little over the top. Stay focused and get it done!

  8. William L. Bainbridge, Ph.D. says:

    John-

Great. Keep reminding folks you have done this before with larger dollars.

    Bill

  9. David Morrison says:

To liminate the $8,000,000 debt. If Mr. Kasich looks closley at combinigf/eliminating school districts that have too many Superientandents he will clear uo the debt in his first week in office.
I live in Delaware County, we have 5 Superintendents 1 for each school. All we need is one Superientdant for Delaware county. Currently 5 times salary of $150,000.00 equals $750,000. Pay one Superietandent $150.000. This is a savings of $500.000. Do the same process and save another $500,000 that’s $1,000,000 (one million in two counties.

  10. Impressed that Mr. Kasich hasn’t changed his tune. He’s already elected. No need to win over voters. It’s encouraging to see that he may be the real deal.

  11. Great interview! And I agree with David – John’s been elected, and is still telling people what they need to hear, not what they would like to hear. Looking forward to seeing what a straight shooter, who’s not looking to be reelected can do for a state that needs a shot in the arm.

  12. Governor-elect Kasich — excellent interview and I’m THANKFUL that you take office soon AND that you haven’t changed over the years!!

There are a couple of good suggestions within these comments. You may have your “peeps” check them out!!

  13. As a General Contractor who does a lot of work with the OSFC (Ohio Schools Facilities Commission) throughout the state, it would be a great start to review/eliminate the waste and reduce School Construction costs. Enough with LEED Restrictions, Project Labor Agreements and Inefficient Unqualfied Administrators. It can be done differently and be less costly. Olentangy Local School District outside of Columbus is a perfect example.

  14. Great interview Mr. Kasick. Ohio needs you to follow through with your plans. Please don’t disappoint us. I’m behind you 110%.

  15. Yes, Kasich is a no nonsense guy which I think will be good and hurt us in the long run. He has these preconcieved notions of how the unions and prisions actually work and what he thinks is completely wrong. He keeps saying that he wants the people to come up with other ideas instead of whinning, but what he hasn’t came out and said was that they have. Several times the union has presented other ways for the prisons, but never receieved a responce. Instead, our wonderful governor to be wants to cut officers and tripple bunk these inmates. That will be 375 hard time criminals to ONE OFFICIER!!! Instead of two officers driving the state grounds to make sure imates don’t escape, Kasich wants one paid at minimum wage. Who would risk their life to go after an escaping imate at $8.00 an hour? So now we will have these hard time criminals escaping and running our streets. I forsee another Lucasville Riot in a lot of our state prisions. How can we make cuts on wages when these officers are risking their lives every single day? A lot of our state prisons say prayers before every shift to send all of our officiers home and a live, but you want to cut their wages and benefits? John Kasich, you want everyone to jump on the bus or the bus will run you over. If our Corrections Officers jump on your bus, they will still get ran over by the bus. They will be over ran and killed by inmates.

  16. Julie Fredericksen says:

In regard to the statement about the unions needing to take out a full-page add….there is an email from Governor Kasich sent to union leaders to prove this statement to be true…it was shared with me by one of my union leaders.

  17. Hey, I must admit that your post was very interesting and fantastic. I took time to read your visitors comments and they contributed highly to your thread. Thanks again for posting and good luck..:)
