I know I could not have picked a better person when I chose Mary Taylor to join me as my running mate.
I knew then that Mary was a principled leader. As a legislator, she bucked the party leadership when they wanted her to raise taxes. Mary knew it would be the wrong thing to do, so she voted against them, even though she lost her committee positions as a result.
And, as Auditor of State, she has led the charge to demand that our state use honest numbers when dealing with our budget — advice that has unfortunately gone unheeded by the current administration.
But since she joined the ticket, Mary and I have traveled around the state together and I have learned so much more about her. She is a caring mother of two wonderful teenage boys. She is a loving wife. And, she has become a trusted advisor and confidant. I can’t tell you how thrilled I am that she is going to be Ohio’s next Lieutenant Governor.
I would like you to watch this short video “Meet Mary Taylor: Doing the Right Thing” and hear about Mary’s experiences in her own words. She has a compelling story and I know you will identify with her values. I can’t think of a better partner to join with as we work to bring jobs back to Ohio.
Please watch the video and consider using the tools above the video to share it with your friends and family, so they can also learn about Mary. Also, feel free to leave a comment below.
Mary and I appreciate all you do.
Thanks for the backgrounder on Mary. It helps to hear from her the principles and ideas that she brings with her for a successful transition to a working economy again. She is an asset to Ohio.
When You become Governor I wish You could do something for the senior citizens on social security,it is hard to make ends meet when we don”t get anymore increase until 2012,we need help now, even a stimulas package would help,we are hurting,Thank You Lawrence A. Betts
John:
I have looked for your stance on the Second Amendment and Gun Control. I have not found anything but do know that you voted for Clinton’s Gun Control Agenda and that the NRA is endorsing Strickland because of your Clinton Gun Bill vote. Where do you and Mary stand on gun control and the second amendment. Obama says that he stands up for the Second Amendment but anyone with a brain knows that is a farce. I agree with your stance on all other issues but before I can vote for you (and Mary) I need clarification on what you did with the Clinton Weapons Ban.
I believe you two are going to make Ohio a model of success for generations to come.
What is your position on the illegals? Ideas you may have to help the issue?
What would you think about going over the state budget and cutting a percentage off all line items?
What do you think about many State employees being out of the “Social Security” program?
Thanks for demonstrating Mary Taylor’s dedication to fighting tax increases, just as John did when he served in the state Senate, and later as a member of Congress, and as chairman of the House Budget Committee. Ohio is blessed to have to such dynamic leaders for its future.
Wow! A principled public servant with common sense values, a relentles focus on jobs and budgets, and a real understanding of and appreciation for private industry wealth creation. How refreshing! Just what Ohio needs.
Very Nice video – gets the message across
I am an employer of 300 people in Southern Ohio. In 5 years Workmans Comp has paid out 72 thousand dollars on my claims. In that same period I have paid in over 400thousand. Would anyone pay 5 or 10 times the value of their car for auto insurance at Nationwide? Employers don’t need taxpayers money to create jobs, we simply need Govt to stop wasting OUR money!
As one of the owners of a start-up company in Ohio, I support Mary and John’s shared goal of making Ohio more business friendly. But regardless of which party is in power after the elections, our leaders need to start listening to those people who create jobs in Ohio, and they are NOT the bureaucrats and politicians. Bad advice does breed bad results, and when there is no business experience to back up the advice given, it is usally bad advice.
John & Mary-You both are a breath of fresh
air in the midst of this tyronic government!
I thank you for standing up for values that make
this country great. I have always been a value
voter and looking forward to November.
“Lets Roll” and do all we can to take back
this state and country by God’s grace!
John/Mary;
I am a business owner in Ohio with a pre-crash employment of about 50, now down to 15. I have had a devistating encounter with The Ohio EPA over 5-Drums of un sampled material that was not spilled but taken to a hazardous disposal site. They are completely out of control and out of reason. My legal bills have exceeded $45K on this matter and they want more. Ohio needs these people stopped.
I would also like to know your feelings on gun regulation your intentions in the matter. I was disapointed to see that Gov. Strickland is the only one endorced by the NRA.
Thanks.
Ken Joseph Canton, Ohio
Love it! And she’s allot better looking than you John. No offense, good team. The beauty and the beast. A good ballanced ticket. Now have her start throwing numbers at Ted of the mistakes they have made and the results they have created. That will show beauty and brains. Ohio voters will love that, men & women. You stay above the frey and let her be the attack dog. Sickem girl! Right the ship John! Right the ship!
Ohio faces a financial crisis of “Grand Canyon” proportions. In response, the Republicans propose Mary Tayler, the hands-on CPA State Auditor, while the Democrats propose Yvette McGee Brown, a social worker. Clearly, John Kasich is proving he will deal with the State’s deficit while Ted Strickland is showing how blind he is to the problem.
Hello Mary, I see you stand up for the right thing to do. It is so rare in politics. I’m really upset what is going on in thiis country as well as our state. It’s a breath of fresh air for someone like you to stick to your guns. I just had a thought……. How does President Mary Taylor sound. Just thougfht I would throw that in. Gil Kuivila
Be looking up your credits and watching you till November. If you mean what you have said, and it’s not just another political speech, you’ll have my vote. There’s a lot of information to sift through and digest till then. Stay true to your course and you shouldn’t have any problems getting elected and then get on to getting Ohio back on a winning course. Go, Go, Sunshine.
Well recognizing that government doesn’t create jobs but rather just needs to get out of the way is a good start.
Exercising our states’ rights and telling Washington where to stick their overbearing crap would be a great next step. Health care is none of their business,Cap and trade is not only wrong but just ridiculous.Tell them Ohio,by contract(the Constitution),REFUSES to participate in their follies.
This Federal failure-Social Security- is of course not in the duties of the State so don’t pander to those folks, but we could create a state program that is 1/2 as good as that of public employees and make a lot of elderly folks very happy.
Speaking of state employees-what about the bulging at the seams state payroll and those on it who seem to have forgotten just who the hell they work for??
Finally just where do you stand on my GOD given right to defend myself and my family?? Law enforcement just cleans up after the fact and has become, basically,a revenue source. Why is Ohio so restrictive???
Private citizens can’t spend their way out of tight times, what make elected types think they can?? JUST SAY NO!!!!!!!!!!!!
Our only HOPE for long term success is to CHANGE this thinking that government/regulation is the answer. They are the PROBLEM!!!
.
Mary is an outstanding choice for Lt. Governor and from her track record I am confident she will do exceedingly well.
I think the current advertisements about job loss is confusing and awkward i.e. “jobs lost under Strickland” – your message needs to be focused on what precisely has not been done to promote and retain jobs in the state and what you’re going to do to promote and retain jobs in the state.
Ed,
You can review John’s stance on gun control here.

This should be a statewide ad. Fantastic. Realistic. Common Sense approach to government.
Great Ad. Release this statewide.
A New Way. A New Day. Exactly what Ohioans need to hear at this time.
Thanks John Kasich and Mary Taylor
We do need change , We need more democrats booted out all they want to do is spend spend spend
Awesome Ad and an Amazing Leadership Team. I can not wait to see this aired. Keep up the great work Mary and John
Seems like typical political BS to me. Democrats and Republicans alike aren’t worth a damn. How can I tell? The fact that we switch between the two parties every few of years shows that neither one of them are doing what the public wants. If they were, they would be consistently reelected for performing to the public’s standards. On the other hand the public is also incredibly stupid and will fall for any old political trick in the book as long as they hear enough buzz words. What’s worse is that people think they’re informed when in fact they are not. Unfortunately for the small percentage of people with actual critical thinking abilities, the ignorant public will continue to elect two-faced, self-serving politicians. Take former governor Blagojevich for example. And that’s just an example of someone actually getting caught. Who knows how many politicians have gotten away with who knows what.
Great Ad. We need more of this kind of Ad. Very sincere and hits on the tax issue. John needs to do more of this on taxes and jobs. need to be more pro-active and agressive to offset all of the Union BS.
Condense this down to a TV ad. The part about her father being a union bricklayer teaching her to do the right thing and how she followed up with that in the House is a key part. Use this to lead into the need to create a more favorable business climate for job growth. Also, include where Mary is from. Maybe I didn’t catch that.
I have been an avid supporter of John since he was my congressman in Westerville and was in attendance at the first Columbus Tea Party Rally where he was a guest speaker but I have to say that Mary’s “Voinavichian” approach to Workers Comp and John’s Gun Control philosophy are not making them any freinds at Workers Comp. Between the Obama Kool-Aid drinkers and the Union suck-alongs as well as some really good people there, I find it hard to sell him as anything but another bad choice. One thing that most citizens aren’t aware of but the politico’s are is that Workers Comp is self funding and does not suck off of the teat of the public coffer. We have been making great strides at reducing costs to keep up with the ever decreasing revenues created by the foul business climate that exists. Their sole purpose is to serve the injured workers of Ohio and no one knows it better or can do it cheaper. This talk of Privatization, to me, smacks of getting control of all that money that is used for the injured workers of Ohio. You guys are going to have address this if you want many votes from there…
I read your stance on gun control and the and the 2nd amendment as stated below:
http://www.kasichforohio.com/site/c.hpIJKWOCJqG/b.6170651/k.1967/Supporting_Ohios_Sportsmen_Wildlife__Natural_Resources.htm
Now explain what your stance will be that will exonerate you from the negative image you have created with the NRA. My 2nd amendment rights carry more weight with me than many other facets of government involvement.
Hmm…Mrs. Taylor. You are married with kids.
You know what that makes you?………
a……
Mama Grizzly!!!!!
Rooooaaaarrr!!!
I am proud to say that I have met Mary Taylor on several occasions as a county campaign manager for a candidate for Congress. She was probably the most humble and sincere candidate that I have ever seen running for a state office. She is serious, dedicated to her profession, and very personable. I too, was the daughter of a union bricklayer, with a stay at home mom. This produced a great combination of hard working ethics, and family values. Together with John Kasich, she will bring Ohio back to the responsible government of which we can all be proud.
I am glad to hear that Mary Taylor voted against her own party to do the right thing. This should go into an ad as well. Many Republicans can learn from her example. Lead by example. Mean what you say. Please be the ticket for Ohio that I have been waiting for.
This is the second time now that I have heard Mary and I must say, I am impressed. She is knowledgeable, articulate and appears “genuine”. I suggest getting her before the public just as much as possible. I liked her positive comments on “accounting” and I think the public would relate to her conception of necessary decisions. Great running mate and her her visible in all venues.
I feel like a lot of people, I hear your words, but that doesn’t mean you’re telling the truth. I’m tired of empty words. If you are really serious about helping the people of Ohio the first place you need to start is welfare reform and cutting government bureaucracy. We have too many people sitting home and generationally collecting welfare checks, food stamps etc. and why, because the systems does not reward work, ambition, or drive. It is set up to keep people oppressed and it is more profitable to stay on the system then to actually go to work and stand on your own two feet. It should be a system to temporarily help people in need. If we are going to pay our congressmen and senators what we do, all of them state and federal should have to work 40 hrs a week and with the salaries they make they should pay their own expenses. They take too many vacations and have to big of expense accounts on tax payer dollars. All raises for congressmen and senators should be voted on by the people they work for. Taxes do need to be cut for business. I am a business owner, my profession, tax professional, enrolled agent. I see the injustus and abuses of the tax system everyday. None of the IRS regs. passed or State tax laws passed in the last few years have fixed or even addressed the real issues. I could show you a few things but most polititians don’t listen to the people who live in the real world. For me I would like for someone to just tell the truth, even if it is not what we want to hear JUST TELL THE BLASTED TRUTH. As for your campaign we’ll see. I’ve listen to you several times, you seem real but so have a lot of people. I’m not sure I trust any polititian at this moment. I will vote, but lately I feel that I have not been voting for a good canidate but the lessor of two evils.
I only hope this not more of the other hope and change and all of the transparency
Hoping John and Mary will practice what they preach; to many politicians are influenced as soon as they are elected. They do not know how to move forward against the greed, lack of integrity, lack of morals, lack of responsibility to the wishes of the people and the betterment of the people presented by other politions.
Good Luck.
Property taxes are getting way too high-there has to be a better way to fund our schools. The state cannot expect property owners to support all the schools. It doesn’t work. Look into how other states do it, like South Carolina. They use a lot of lottery money, companies and universities. There has to be a better way!!!
While limiting the size of government, please promote expanded railway service, passenger and freight, and nuclear power stations. They would enable short and long term job growth for Ohio.
A loyal Republican
I resent your implication, and those on this blog, that all public employees are overpaid and lazy. I have worked for 36 years, 50-60 hours per week, to make this state a better place. (And no, I’m not eligible for overtime) How are you going to fund the programs that actively help people when you have cut all of us out of public service? I’ve already taken furloughs and pay cuts. Don’t tell me I’m overpaid.
why are you not addressing your stand on finacing of schools in ohio? Also why don’t you meet with the teachers union?
Please get Mary Taylor out in front of all Ohioans. She is such a sharp positive contrast to Strickland’s running mate. She can make a real difference is a close campaign.
Great Ad. Many seniors don’t use internet sites and don’t see this. Maybe need to show her more in print, TV and radio.
