MEDINA TWP. — Ohio Auditor Mary Taylor says much of the state’s gubernatorial race will boil down to job creation.

Taylor, who is the running mate of gubernatorial candidate John Kasich, spoke about a recent trip to Clinton County, which has the highest unemployment rate in the state at 16.8 percent. Taylor and Kasich asked residents there what they wanted from state government.

Republican John Kasich who is running for Governor and his running mate current State Auditor Mary Taylor made the most of their time in Jackson County Thursday.

First stop was Republican Headquarters on Broadway in Jackson. A host of local elected officials, Senator and candidate for State Representative John Carey, Senate candidate David Daniels, Commission candidate Jerry Hall, and Republican Party Chair Jim Milliken were among those who issued a warm greeting to the pair.

After a few minutes for the press, Kasich and Taylor huddled with the Republican faithful.

Republican gubernatorial candidate John Kasich continued to attract money for his bid to unseat incumbent Ohio Governor Democrat Ted Strickland.

The former congressman and Fox News personality is reporting that he raised slightly more than $2 million in the first quarter of 2010.

He outpaced Strickland by more than $500,000 for the quarter. Strickland raised nearly $1.5 million in the first three months of the year. But he had a sizable amount left in the bank: $7.1 million.
