The Problem:
With nearly 400,000 Ohio jobs lost since Ted Strickland took office and more than 1.3 million Ohioans living without health insurance, too many of our fellow citizens are hurting today. To make matters worse, Strickland supported Obamacare, which only heaps new costs on businesses and states, does nothing to rein-in costs, and gives bureaucrats more control over our personal health care decisions. It is time for our leaders to take action.
We Can Do Better:
John Kasich and Mary Taylor believe Ohioans deserve the best health care possible. They support repealing Obamacare and replacing it with real health care reform based on a clear set of core principles:
- Allow consumers to purchase health insurance across state lines.
- Reduce frivolous lawsuits even further than has already been done in Ohio.
- Cover pre-existing conditions.
- Encourage healthier lifestyles.
- Coordinate care and educate patients who have one or more chronic diseases to improve their quality of life and cut costs.
- Make information about health insurance costs and quality more transparent.
- Use technology, electronic medical records and e-prescriptions to improve care and reduce errors.
- Allow more seniors and people with disabilities to live in their own homes instead of high-cost nursing homes.
